Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. To be fair, I should point out that I think Robert-I would say that Paul is only talking about straight men and women turning to homosexual relations even though they aren't gay. I don't want to speak for him, but we've discussed this before. I don't agree, but it's clear this passage is NOT saying homosexuality is a punishment. It says they received due penalty for their perversion, which I take to not just mean the sex with their own gender, but also all the non-sexual perversions Paul talks about in the previous verses. I see it to mean that God finally gave up on them. I don't think you want God to give up on you. Dakota |
