I don't think the situations are very similar at all. The bible makes clear that the leaders of a church should not permit false teachings in their congregation. Their responsibility is to lead the flock and ensure that they are not led astray. As such, I would not expect church leadership to sit idly by while heresy arises from within their congregations.

Neither do I believe in a "one church" concept. I believe variety is good and there are many churches as there are many personality types. I believe one church may be right for you, and another right for me. There is nothing wrong with that.

On the other hand, if the area is so over-saturated with churches that no church has more than a few members and none of them can accomplish anything due to their small size...then you obviously have a problem.
