The only remedy for a bad self-fulfilling prophecy is an action called bootstrapping, which is very similar to faith.

Make a little compact with yourself that you can and will do your best to make things go right instead of wrong. Put the right things in motion - 'best foot forward.'

Pray, then, to God, if you can, for faithful help with your bootstrap. The holy spirit gives excellent bootstrap support.

Then monitor the situation attentively, not with glumness aforethought, but just to make sure your positive moves are realistic and as strategically good as you can make them.

'Spin-doctor' the situation as good, to the best of your abilities (and don't down-spin those abilities). And always keep reality-checking.

Embrace the reality of half-full and start filling with new bona-fide good outcomes, as many as you can get.
