Society needs, rather desperately, to grow up. As I have said before, the bible is full of out-dated concepts, that have no purpose in modern life.

So, since the Bible is "full of out-dated concepts" is God out-dated as well? And if God's Word has "no purpose in modern life" what's left?
And how does one choose what has "no purpose"? By eliminating the things that have no merit in their lives. Thus putting Self over and above the Word of God.

I am a Christian. I, no doubt will have sex outside of marriage. If God is worthy of our faithfulness, he would not damn us for such meaningless things....

By saying that he will "no doubt...have sex outside of marriage", he is already consciously chosen to sin. Then he, a professed Christian, asks whether God is "worthy" if God does not accept HIS decision to do as he pleases. And further goes on to describe certain of God's Words as "meaningless". A decidedly unChristian-like attitude, if you ask me.

If, indeed, being a Christian means subscribing to the beliefs of the majority of those who call themselves Christian, then perhaps I am not a Christian after all... Nor would I wish to be...

Now he's getting defensive of HIS position. No one has asked him to subscribe to the "beliefs of the majority". Only to follow the beliefs that he professes to believe in.

Perhaps Jim was right... Christianity, as it stands today, is a cancer... A cancer that must be removed if there is to be any true freedom... Especially for the misguided souls who believe in an 'Emperor Deity'.

Now, surprisingly enough, from a professed Christian comes the notion that Christianity "is a cancer...that must be removed..." and describes his professed God to be an "Emperor Deity" because He will not accept what poor little Sprite wants Him to accept.

Frankly, I think that the Christians of today should start describing themselves in two groups: those that really believe in God and His teachings, and those that want to create a new version of God's religion. Maybe they could call themselves Neo-Christians so we'll know who they are?

In MY world, either I believe in something or I don't. Like I've said before, I'm a Christian per se because I believe in the teachings of Christ...NOT because I believe in God. You know where I stand. I don't believe in God so I do not have to follow His silly laws. But I believe the teachings of Christ so I do have a moral guideline that I follow.
This is totally opposite from the majority of Christians I run in to (some of the present company excepted). They profess a belief in God but don't think that they should have to live by His Word. It's an insane concept, at the least.
