attraction vs behavior

I agree with the CBLF FAQ that says: Christian Boylove Forum participants believe that a distinction must be made between feelings of attraction (which are not chosen) and behavior (for which one must be held responsible).

I have always believed that the thought (or temptation) is not a sin (since it is not chosen), but it is what we do with that thought which makes it a sin.

If a good-looking young boy walks in front of me and I notice him -- that is one thing. Even if I find him sexually attractive -- it is not sin. But it's what I choose to do that makes it sin. Do I go back to my business, or do I stop and admire the boy, maybe taking a glance at certain areas of his body? What is going on in my mind when I stop to admire the boy? This is sin. Jesus has told us not to lust after or envy things that are not ours -- it is called committing adultery in our hearts.

There are two ways to check whether something is a sin to you or not: 1) it has to be chosen AND 2) it has to be chosen out of one's own selfish desire. Selfish desire is what makes boylust different from boylove. I am not loving a boy if I am also selfishly lusting after the boy. That's not love (1 Cor 13).

I know this is a big issue that has been hotly discussed in the past. I only wanted to emphasize the "attraction vs behavior" part of the argument.
