The Paradigm shift needs to be greater

Thanks for your comments, Mark, I appreciate you are trying to find a way forward, and that encourages me to keep searching.

But as I talk with nonChristian friends and examine my own assumptions, it seems to me that the paradigm shift we are seeking needs to be even more radical.

To replace sex with moral beliefs will simply displace the issue rather than resolve it. As Ford stated, we should create an awareness of the ordinary person that they're just as related to murderers and rapists and, indeed, to us as they are to anyone else.

But I'm not sure that even this awareness could occur in our Church Culture and the way it relates to society. We will always be seen as the lower end of the totem pole, and it is necessary (in the current paradigm) to find someone else to replace us as society's scrapegoat... or so it seems.

For those of us that have "come out" to our faith communities... is it our no-sex stance that has created a climate of confidence, or are there are factors at play which we are overlooking?

Peace of Christ,
Bach
