Behind that weighty subject line is a simple request for a word :) My pastor was discussing some idle theology with me last Sunday, and we got on to the topic of why the Eastern church split from the Western. Part of the reason was a difference in understanding of the Trinity, and whether the Spirit comes from the Father or from the Son. Apparently, he said, there's a word for that. "Theoticos", he thought, but wasn't sure. Can any of our scholars help me out? What's the word, and what does "ticos" mean (theo meaning "god")? I want to be able to impress the pastor when I see him next Sunday ;) (especially impressive given the source of my knowledge... ;) he'd freak out!) Fod |
