I do understand where you're coming from with your examples, but how many laws do we reverse and get rid of? Just the ones based on Judeo-Christian beliefs? But what are those? And can't we say all laws are in some way connected to those two religions in some way. It's a tough issue. Some people don't believe in speed limits -- why should they be "limited" on how fast they drive? Just tonight I was driving 35 in a 30 but some guy behind me was obviously going over 50 and seemed angry that I was in his way. It made us both tense. Is it possible to have a peaceful society when there are no rules a all? Is it possible to have a peaceful society when there ARE rules but only one side believes in them? It seems that rules have to be enforced on everyone to achieve some kind of peace; anything less is peace-less. Or should we even care about those things and just worry about ourselves in a society full of chaos and disorder? More government? Less government? Police-state? Anarchy? How do we achieve balance, and is it even possible for all different types of people to agree on what that balance should be? ...just pondering, if only to myself. |
