I think that granting special interest group status to gays would be a step backward. They have that status already. The reason that they have it is because they need it to gain enough power to try and stop discrimination. We as Americans tend to go to extremes in protecting the rights of most groups. I think there is an attempt to look like certain rights are protected... but have you visited an inner city neighborhood of any major US city lately? The US Constitution isn't helping out the poorest of poor... they have "rights" - the right to starve to death without medical care. If all Christians could see gays and lesbians as their brothers and sisters, I think it would go a long way towards breaking down the walls of hostility in many other areas. Peace of Christ, Bach |
