Hey, I have a question. When I am working with kids, I have found myself treating many of them the way that I wish my dad would have treated me. He always seemed to have time for my brothers, but not me. He would do things with them, but not with me as much. He never spent time with me and never really said that he loved me or even liked me. I know that he did, but he never did much to show it. He was not an affectionate kind of guy. I have even told people that I treat some of the kids the way I wish I would have been treated. It's almost like I'm reliving my childhood through them, trying to fill a void that was never filled when I was a child. We could debate for hours the cause of why people are drawn toward working and being with children, but does my story sound like I have something in common with the rest of you? Tigris |
