You are right, of course, but...

...I am beginning to see that A.I. is trying to make a valid point. It would be much easier to see if one did not have to look through the flames and dodge so many darts, but still, I think he may be right about the way that we present ourselves and the language that we use to describe ourselves.

Most of us have been in the Church long enough to become familiar with the "Christianese" that we all use to the point that it makes perfect sense. But remember when you were new, and it seemed so very strange to hear things like "washed in the Blood of Christ"? There are so many seemingly hard and cold statements in scripture that we have learned to interprete through our understanding of God's love and acceptance. For example, "Hate the sin, and love the sinner" seems incredibly compassionate to us - but for someone who has not accepted God's authority over their life to judge their actions, it must seem oppressive.

I am not suggesting that I should apoligize for who I am in Christ - there is no doubt that I am not the same person that I was: in behavior, in thoughts, in desires, in integrity, in peace and joy. I may not be better than anybody else on the planet, but this life I am living is sure better than the one I had.

However, if I can communicate in a way that is less arrogant, and more accepting of others, then I should try to do so... and if A.I. can teach me something, I am willing to listen.

So A.I. - I am almost afraid to ask - am I close?

Nate
