Poem: Would You Care?

Dear Splash!

Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement. The first part of your response to the person who brought up your past (Would it make you happy if I killed myself today...) reminded me of a poem I wrote while I was in prison.

Knowing your deep interest in some of the neat underlying things in the Bible, I think you'll find a feature of this poem quite interesting - I wrote it in the form of an acrostic, similar to four of the five dirges in Lamentations, though instead of following the alphabet, the first and second indents spell out a pretty bleak message, one which I toss around in my head quite often, but always conclude that because of Jesus, I do have a reason to live.

...slit my wrists and with blood atoned for
having hurt the boy I love? How much you
...underestimate the power that
you hold, power of life and death
...in the sentence you have passed.

Life without the joy of intimate
...companionship, life stripped of all
its worth, is not a life at all; and
...in the life you've handed me,
veiled from all that's good in a
...dungeon of your design for such
evil that is I, every minute and
...every hour I wish that I would die.
