AI Watcher,

I heard that you were flaming up the joint here, so I thought I'd pop in to see what the fuss was about. As I expected, it is much ado about nothing.

"In a thread below Splash posted that he feels sorry for Albert Einstein because Einstein didn't hold the same spiritual beliefs that Splash does."

If one believes that ones beliefs are true (as usually any of us do) then it seems reasonable to feel sorry for someone if you believe that thier beliefs on an important subject are false. Are you tellin me that you never feel sorry for Christians for being so "deluded" in their thinking?

I don't feel sorry for people who have differnt spiritual beliefs from my own, but I also feel no harm comes automatically from believing in God. I do feel sorry for people who have great stresses or anxieties in their lives due to their spiritual beliefs, however. Some do, some don't.

"In the last post in that thread, Splash tells me this:

'I'm very certain that those who don't know Him don't know Truth.'

I find that amazingly arrogant and also a very, very dangerous, if nto downright evil idea."

I don't. I see no arrogance, danger, or evil in it. It seems a pretty logical thing to me. If Jesus is God and one does not know Him, then one does not know Truth. A very simple fact, I'd say.

"It astonishes me that somebody would actually think that unless a person is a Christian, he can't know what's true and what isn't."

It would astonish me, too. And I bet it would astonish Splash because he did not say what you have just said. Only a fool would say that an athiest cannot know that 2+2=4 or that today is Wednesday. He did not say that athiests cannot know anything. He only said that they don't know (capital "T") Truth - the ultimate truth about the nature of God and reality. Well, DUH! I would expect all Christians to think that and find it as harmless a statement as the mere afirmation of ones faith (which is all it is).

I'm an athiest. I think that Splash and most of the regulars here have views of the fundamental nature of reality that are 100% wrong. I believe that they don't know "Truth". But that is just to say that we have different spiritual beliefs. What is so hard to understand about that?

Now play nice, or we will have to put you back in the cage.

:-)
