Wow - it's interesting; I simultaneously agree with you word-for-word across a drastic amount, and hold my own seperate views. I've never quite done this before. Marriage does not require a church or state. I find this highly refreshing. :) Marriage, in it's purest form is a vow between a man and a woman made to God (practically, at least a man of God should be present to wed the two). Wow - I view it as almost the inverse; a blessing which God inflicts upon the twain... having seen the meaning of 'the two became as one' in a level both deeper and seperate from sexuality, suffusing the whole of being, thereby, sans any formal vow betwixt us... ...but, that's my wingnut self, and what I've seen. Wouldn't want to inflict it on one who hasn't had their nose rubbed in it by God. :) God created man and woman to be together. So a relationship is not to be judged by its fruits, as per Matt 7:17, but upon its conformance thereunto? He gave us our sexuality in order to share with our spouses as a gift from Him. This bond between a husband in wife, through sex, in it's pure loving form is the closest we can come to understanding how much God loves us. ...barring divine intervention, anyways. ;) On one point, I must quibble - not that you do not seem correct to me, but rather that I could see such leading to the belif of sex=love, under the precursor of marriage. I would not wish such a belief that the presence of sex (nor, for that matter, the presence of a state- or church- defined marriage) to be the goal in a quest for love, having seen the harm of both. ...but I strongly doubt that you meant that, and appear to agree with your meaning. Sex, taken out of that context is nothing but defiling that precious gift He gave us. Satan locked on that, and away he went with our little minds. The human species has turned sex, which is a gift from God to be shared in love with a spouse, into a perverted obsession and Lucifer guided us there. :) Blanket agreement I have, within my understanding of marriage, here, and nothing more. I feel obligated to offer my views as to the mechanisms and history of how such cruel trick seems to be pulled - in brief, I also learned at the same time I rediscovered the meaning of 'the two became as one,' as a seperate learning, that what society deems to be 'sex' seems to have next-to-nothing to do with actual human sexuality, and I was given to percieve how this was done... ...but, every time I open my mouth, either on things shown me by God or by that which led me to Him, someone around here is invariably proud, swift, and bold to stand up, point a finger at me, and shout "SATAN!!!!!" ::sigh:: Such has ever been my life... anyways...
