Well, since this is not Religious Debate Chat, we have not attempted to define doctrine for the participants on this board. Our intention is to be inclusive and to remain focused on our mission of suppporting Christian BLs. Funny that you start by complaining that the board seems too conservative, and then ask me to narrow my definitions.

Personally, though, I think a Christian is one who is a follower of Jesus and is trusting in Him to provide the means to eternal fellowship with the Creator.

...anything which helps to interrupt the suffering of new souls entering this planet is to be commended, not abhorred.

Interesting arguement, but I don't see anything in Jesus teachings that counters God's command to be fruitful and multiply. True, Paul seemed to be encouraging us to forget family-building because the time is short - but it is hard to give that a lot of weight today, nearly 2000 years later. He very well may have been speaking to that particular place and time, as he often did. And then there is the fact that God's perspective on suffering is entirely different from ours - many times, he indicates that suffering is good for us in the long-term.

An institution of using boys as alternative sex objects is not a means of alleviating suffering. That seems to be a weak attempt to bend scripture to meet the desires of the flesh.

Personally, I think that we could get a lot further by returning to a scripturally-based understanding of what it means to love one another, but that would be a new thread.

Thanks for your response, though.

Peace,

Nate
