Ben, it's been really exciting to see how your friendship with the father and the boys has been growing, and how they are introducing you to our God and Father. It's great to hear of Christians doing what they're "supposed" to be doing! Loving!

I've sometimes thought about my faith in God (I prefer to use the phrase "relationship with God" ;) ) in terms similar to what you mentioned here. You know how a lot of preachers make a point about how you must believe, so you can "receive eternel life"? Well, sometimes it strikes me just how selfish that is. It's like you're saying "well OK God, I might believe in you, but first tell me what do I get out of it first." I think that sort of presentation of Christian faith is completely contrary to the basics of faith, which is to love God for his own sake, because he is good. The eternel life bit is in a sense just an added extra, an incidental. For me, I like to think that even if our life ceased when we die, if there were no hereafter, no eternel life, I would still want to pass through this life with God. Why? Because, simply, he loves me, and it is good to be with him.

Hey, now that you have your own Bible, we can play the "favourite verses" game soon :)
ps I have a question for you concerning the relationship of Judaism to Christianity, the Passover to the Lord's Supper, but I didn't want to post it right now cause I don't like saying too much all at once and hogging the board.
