Thanks for replying, Scott. I agree with what you said..mostly. However, I think a slight clarification needs to be made. By "cure" I dont mean necessarily that we will never have anymore desire for the kids whatsoever. Instead, what I mean by "cure" is the removal of the obsessive-sexual-codependent factor in pedophilia. Through working with tons of pedos (mostly in jail), I realize that the sexual element of pedophilia is but the tip of the iceberg..the symptom and not the root. Pedophilia is far more than a mere sexual problem. It is an emotional/spiritual bondage for a lot of people (admitedly not all). Most pedophiles feel the need to be around kids...it doesnt have to be sexual either. There is always a root factor behind this obsession. For some, it may be past abuses or experiences. For others it is a conditioning. In my case, it is deep insecurities inside of me. By "cure", I mean being able to resolve the root problem. The truth is that GOD is the ONLY ONE that can fulfill our souls. A lot of pedophiles seek to fulfill their souls by being around kids. Sure, it works for a while but eventually...we are left empty again...I have worked with hundreds of kids for a decade. I have experienced deep, deep joys and fellowship with them. Yeah, I was happy..but not joyful. There is still a longing inside my soul. Children are precious, yes but they cannot and SHOULDNT replace GOD as the goal of our lives. If we love the children, its because we love GOD. There will never be substitutes for GOD in our lives. The clux in what I am saying is this, Are we ready to sacrifice our desire to be around kids for GOD if HE wants us to? Its not a matter of "yes or no" but a matter of readiness of the heart..much like Abraham's test with Isaac. I believe when we are ready to do so, then HE blesses us with more kids to work with and to spread his love to. :) That is my definition of cure, basically. Anyway, just my 2 cents again. John Guard |
