I can fully relate. Again, its not a black and white issue (dont mistake my statement to mean that I take everything subjectively...there are absolute truths, afterall...GOD's Truths). That is one of the major distinctions between the old and new covenants. The old covenant is usually black and white..do this , dont do this, et al. The new covenant involves "internal" thinking and decision-making. Is this edifying? Am I doing the LORD's Will? Is this going to help me grow in the LORD and/or help others ? I am a photographer...I have over 30,000 pics of just boys which I have taken personally, including some of child actors(most of which are quite bratty, if I may add). There are some pictures that I am not too proud of, not that they are illegal or indecent...but I , and a lot of other people, tend to render the subjects as objects in the process (like shirtless pics or speedo pics). On the other hand, I have myriads of pictures of "my" kids..kids I have worked with over the years and who I have a deep, platonic relationship with. In most if not all of these cases, I cannot even imagine myself thinking of them as sex objects...it is offensive. I have deep passions for them at times...even to the point of straying off God's Will (by putting them before GOD)...but GOD always makes sure that I get back on the right track (sometimes the hard way, admitedly as I can be a pain in the butt). Doing the right thing is often difficult, and it is extremely easy to stray off, by either yielding to our self-interests or rationalizing. In the end though, whatever difficulties one experiences in doing the right thing is nothing compared to the reward that we will receive from GOD...and more importantly, nothing compared to the fulfillment of knowing that we are doing the right thing.
