Heather -
I am wrestling with two issues: The first is, what is sinful and what is not. My chuch, being quite fundamentalist, believes that sin is not a negotiable topic and therefore homosexual acts are out. They also believe that lustful thoughts (the second time) are out and this would have to include fantasy and masterbation. How they expect this to be accepted by teenage sons and single members I'm not sure I understand yet.

The second issue is, what sins will affect my life. Certainly sex outside of marriage is not a problem for me because I have never engaged in it (with men or women or children) and can certainly live without it. On the other hand, I greatly enjoy fantasizing about boys and I am quite confident that I can continue to keep that to myself so that I am only a good mentor and caring friend to the boys that I know.

I believe, from what I have seen, that the bible is actually quiet on the issue of intergenerational sex. I am not sure why this is, but I am sure, knowing what I know about both middle eastern culture and Greco-Roman culture that love for boys certainly did and does exist. Whether God is quiet on this issue because he is willing to accept it as a distraction from adult-adult sex outside of marriage or because he considers it to be encompassed in the issue of homosexual sex is unclear. Perhaps our first bible study could focus on areas in the bible where God MIGHT be giving us some clues.

You are not alone.
