Hah F.O.D. .. what kept you? :) "Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" Acts 4:12 The good Book tells us Jesus is the only way. The Bible says it. I believe it. I don't blame you for preaching the party line, FOD. After all, the New Testament IS the priemier Christian marketing prospectus :) I can't blame you for not knowing anything other than what you were taught. If it works for you, then that's all that you need to know. So there :) F.O.D. I am interested in what you have to say, and I'm trying to understand why you're grasping at invisible straws :) I would agree that the "Holy Spirit", the "God Force" or whatever label you want to put on it.... aka "Jesus Christ" is a bit of a S-T-R-E-A-C-H ! ...however, whatever makes you happy 'ol dear :) You're saying if Glook Glug, right out of the stone age, gets struck by the holy spirit... it was really Jesus who did it... but he just didn't know. Is that it? Wouldn't it be reasonable to say to that it was the "Spirit of God" sans Jesus? Is it not correct somehow, if Jesus isn't getting "credit" for one of the enlightened human beings? Many non-religious types claimed to have seen "the light" and some of them had an immediate and intense metaphysical experience. Walt Whitman for one, was an "initiate" of "Cosmic Enlightenment". He also appreciated the ethetics of life, including Boys :) Do you think that it was Jesus who did it to him? I really don't know about that. "The basic idea of their prophecy was that God himself would come down from heaven to save them from fire and destruction. They had no idea who this God was, had no idea what the prophecy meant or how it would be fulfilled, but they devoted themselves to him and worshipped, without knowing his name. But when they eventually heard the story of Jesus, they understood that he was what their prophecy was referring to, this was what they had been waiting for, and they became Christians." I'm not familiar with this "story" but I'll bet you that some helpful "Christian" told the shaman that Jesus was the "answer" to their prophecy. It isn't unusual that even "primitive" peoples, have an inate knowlege of a "Great Spirit" Perhaps it was the Buddha that he was waiting for.... did you ever think of that? Really F.O.D.! That shaman would have accepted the first "prophet" that came along... It was just his "luck" that a Christian was the bearer of the "Good News". This is my pet topic ;) I see the unity of the whole Bible, Old and New Testaments. I see it as the history, not of Abraham's children as such, but of how God is going to bring his lost children (all of them) back to himself. Abraham was just the first step in the plan, but the plan all along was to save all mankind, not just the Hebrews, see Gen 12:3, "all peoples on earth will be blessed through you," and Jesus was at the core of the plan from the very beginning, Gen 3:15 "he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel" (God addressing the serpent, referring to the woman's offspring)." I'm glad that I struck a favorite topic :) Speaking of offspring ....since YOU brought the specific subject up.... Please explain the genetics of this minor puzzle: There was Adam and Eve..... So far so good. They presumably had children.... Question: Who did Adam and Eve's children marry.... .... so that they also would have children. And who did their children marry so they also would beget their own progeny? You see, I have given some logical thought to this seemingly impossible conumdrum. Do you simply "fill in" the blanks as you see fit? "tks I think that's a great and positive thought about metaphysically redirecting negative attraction towards boys into a positive love. Even if we may disagree over the details of the metaphysics :)" Nevermind F.O.D. We'll be able to iron out those minior metaphysical kinks and details.... in no time at all ;) "flattery will get you everywhere..." Flattery, you say? Well, of course.... You are without a doubt One of the Nicest Christians I have ever had the pleasure to dialogue with! How was that? :) "ps Mark 8:34-38, esp v35. It has a lot to do with counting the cost, too, in my opinion." i just Love all of the "look 'em up" homework you leave me hehe THIS is one of MY favorite Topics of all time. I believe it's one of the most difficult concepts to grasp... because most people are afraid of losing their life, or even a small part of it. Me? I embrace Death.... It's an important "transition" of life. For Ben.... Re: Mark 8:35 I would like to discuss this further, since you indicated that you feel that you would possibly loose the Boys. I don't necessarily think so. You might only loose your sexual feelings for them. I know that this must be next to impossible to fathom ;) For the Love of God tks |
