The short answer to your question is yes; the CBF FAQ says that nonChristians and nonboylovers are welcome here. Triple Q, who is a regular participant here, describes himself as a Christian Atheist, and other nonChristians, such as Jimf3, pop in from time to time.

In fact, the invitation at RDC that you crosspost over here came from the CBF Webmaster, so I think you can assume that you're already welcome. :)

I know what you mean by a type of transcendence not specifically to religion; I sort of had the opposite experience, of realizing that transforming experiences in my life that I hadn't thought of as religious were similar to what religious people talked about. I think that part of the problem is vocabulary; religious and nonreligious people often talk about the same spiritual experiences, but they use different words to describe what they've undergone. I just received a post from a religious list I'm on; someone earlier had described a mystical experience he underwent when looking at a spider's web covered with dew, and someone else flatly denied that this could be a "mystical" experience, I suppose because it wasn't described in churchy language.
