Hi there,

I am understanding a bit about your being afraid of society's rules and regulations about kissing a child, or being kissed by them. What is also interesting to me is the fact that same-sex kissing is also done a great deal in the Bible. Look at David and Jonathan, best friends, Joseph and Benjamin, brothers, Jesus and his disciples. In today's world kissing men is considered perverted, brothers kissing is gross, between friends, the same. My thought is that, then, it is society who is at fault and not you.

Your comfort zone should be addressed, and, by all means, if you are convicted by it, don't do it. Set limits, you deem necessary, but don't neglect the biblical accounts of your struggles and its answers to find peace. Read the story of David and Jonathan, Benjamin and Joseph, Jesus and his disciples and learn God's key to relationships and friendships.

I share in your struggles because I work with kids every day, I am your age, and always kids are comming up for hugs and kisses, tho they are younger than 10 for the most part. My solution is that I am openly affectionate with them. I do it in front of my co-workers, parents, and the other kids. If I'm out of line, I will trust one of them to tell me. If talk is going on behind my back that I am acting "pervertedly" than they are not showing me the courtesy of openness I am showing them. I do it with a clear conscience, I have yet to feel divine convictions by it, the kids are hungry for it, and so I offer that which God also showed to me. Unconditional love and friendship. If you can do that with Fiesty, I think you will have your pastor's blessings as well.

In Him,
Oliver
