Mind you, all of these studies accept the notion of "sexual orientation," which previous societies would not have – it's fascinating to me that nobody has criticized the studies on those grounds. (Not enough historians getting interested in the subject, I suppose.) Kinsey, of course, has been attacked on methodological grounds as well, not the least because he apparently used a pedophile's diary for part of his data on childhood sexuality. Heather |
