Dgennero - I think that Chris and witness gave as good answers as anyone could. It is only possible for us to truly love God when we do it by choice, from our own heart. One analogy to this is to think of one's children or pets. We create (or adopt) a child or pet, love it, take care of it and want it to obey us. But we do not want it to be a robot that simply responds to automatic commands. We want it to spontaneously hug us (or lick us :-), to express its love for us, to make choices that show its love for us on its own. We always want the love of our child or pet, but we also want that to happen of its own volition. This can only happen when it possesses the free will to choose to love us. You are not alone. Ben |
