Be comforted in the fact that you feel guilty about the sin in your life. If you didn't feel guilty, I'd be inclined to question your salvation, although only God can be the judge of that. I think accountability is the key. If we're not held accountable to someone that knows our problems, we're most likely not going to hold ourselves accountable. It's too easy to give in to sin when noone else knows what we're going through. Find a godly person you can truly trust. Share with them, as much as you're comfortable, about the concerns you have for falling into temptation. Ask them to pray with you, and ask you how you're doing on a weekly basis. Also, if you're not involved in a church that believes the bible is the sole authoritative word of God, find one, and get involved. Fellowship with other believers is imperative. One last thing, spend time in God's word on a daily basis. Meditate on scripture that relates to the areas in your christian walk you are having problems with. Don't hesitate to post here when you feel the "urge". There are believers here going through the exact same thing you are going through. We're all praying for you. H.S. |
