If you look at the context of Matthew 18:6, you will see that there is another possible explanation. I think that when Jesus speaks of these little ones he is actually talking about believers not necesserally about little children.

"But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." my emphasis

In verses 10-14 He elaborates on the subject. In verse 10 one of these little ones could describe either a child or a believer. Verses 12-14 seem to indicate a believer. The term little ones seems to reffer to people who are little in the faith, not little in age or size.

In this case I don't think it's a matter of putting 2 and 2 together, but of putting 2 and B together which gives what?

I see no verses that say that adults having sex with children is "more detestable" than all other sins.
