Romans 1 v18 to 32 is the crucial passage

The commentators that I've read tend to agree that it is not possible to construct a water tight case on the basis of the 1 Cor 6 passage - but are willing to put a lot of weight on the Romans 1 passage. We often shy away from this because it speaks of God 'giving people up' to dishomourable passions - which is an understanding of God which is unfashionable these days. It also can be interpreted to imply that we have made a choice to be gay - which I suspect few (any?) of us consciously have. I think the correct interpretation is to parallel this with the experience of the earthquake victim - they are not personally the cause of the earthquake, but do share in the general blame of being fallen humans who have in the past sinned and so are worthy only of spiritual death.

Does that make any sense to anyone else?
