Freedom from Afflictions of Passion

I just wanted to write some words of encouragement for those who suffer from afflictions of the emotions and passions that result in strong, passionate feelings for boys. There is hope and deliverenace from this. We need but to put all of our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, prayerfully petitioning for healing and freedom, and seeking godly counsel from mature Christian married men to whom we can be accountable. But the first step is to be very clear and honest with yourself and with God about the nature of these desires - all sexual desire for boys is rooted in sin. The Bible cautions us to 'abstain from fleshly lusts' (1 Peter2:11). That means that even though we may feel unhealthy sexual desires, we must keep ourselves from entertaining them (through imagination or masturbation) or acting on them (through sexual involvement, pornography or lewd conversation). We need to 'abstain'. We may have a desire, but we certainly must control whether we act out on that desire in action or thought. Remember, the Bible describes homosexual desires as "vile affections" or more literally, a "vile affliction of the passion" in Romans 1:26. This is a strong desire for that which is forbidden - this kind of lust is continually condemned in the Bible and described as wrong, sinful, against nature. So please, please, please DON'T lie to yourself by saying that these feelings and desires are OK or blessed by God - they are not. But there is hope, there is freedom, there is deliverance in Christ Jesus: 1 Corinthians 1:9 says, speaking among others of homosexuals, "and such were some of you, BUT you were washed, BUT you were sanctified, BUT you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." This verse is proof that first-century homosexual sufferers had been washed and set free. So can we be. Trust in the Lord and He will do it!
