Just like everything else, I was only saything that it would be wrong for ME. All of my thoughts, are my own. Not trying to "convert" anyone to my personal belief system. But I do enjoy sharing! Maybe I am a "thought exhibitionist" Hehehe. I like to share my thoughts on topics that interest me. (I guess I am just a natural-born teacher!) But if there is one thing that has been hammered into my brain, to no end, by the 12-steps approach, it is the idea of BOUNDARIES. This means that I am my own person, and my values and my beliefs are my own, not someone else's. That is why I am very strong about what I believe, but I go to great lengths to point out that I have no right to impose my beliefs on anyone. No right to judge, either. (This is the same concept that enables me to have sexual fantasies, without acting on them. There is a clear and strong boundary between what may go on in my head, and what I actually do in the real world). So when I declare my opinion, you can be sure that the only person for whom I am certain it is right, is myself. I cannot know why recreational sex might be right or wrong for some other person, in a definite way. If you have been able to have good experiences with recreational sex, I would not try to deny it or criticize that. More power to you! But I cannot do that. It doesn't work for ME, and never has. I base my conclusions on my experiences. My experiences of anonymous sex left me feeling empty and used, and lustful, so I just decided to not try that anymore, because I don't even WANT to, and I would much rather wait until I am in love to have sex again. But I have also had a few loving relationships, in which I have had really good sexual experiences. So my experience is not all one-sided. [Between you and me, just so you know how I feel about sexuality, though I may be waiting for the right person before I will have real sex again, I still have fantasies, and I thoroughly enjoy masturbation--that is one of my favorite ways to relax, and has been since I was about 10 years old. So there!! :) Jocelyn Elders was right! Alas, even jerking off seems like some kind of a mortal sin to certain people in this day and age. Too bad every man on earth does it anyway!] |
