Christians constantly try to force their beliefs

Christianity is practically never content to simply practice its beliefs. For some reason there is a constant attempt to FORCE beliefs down the throats of others. Witness the judge in Alabama who insists that the law in his state is based on the 10 commandments and insists on displaying them in his court house - regardless of Americans' constitutional right to have their governing institutions protected from the influence of religion. Witness the countless politicians who pass and try to pass laws based on Christian morality, completely dismissing the fact that many of their consituents are not not Christians and do not share belief about Christian morality. A man in Utah was just sentenced to five years in prison (PRISON) because he dared contradict the prevailing Christian moral that a man may only marry one woman. Christianity ought to hang its head in horrible shame over that one. A hard working father was seperated from his family for YEARS for absolutely no rational reason. If Christians don't think it's moral to have more than one wife, why no just marry only one woman? Why force the rest of us to practice as you feel you ought to practice? Christians all over the world are responsible for the deaths of AIDS victims who could not receive safer sex information or condoms because CHRISTIANS find them to be immoral. If a Chrisitan doesn't like condoms, why doesn't he just not WEAR them? Why pass laws to force others to practice his religious beliefs? Yet Christian leaders get into the act all the time lobbying politicians to pass laws and regulations based on their superstitions. I could go on, but I suppose you understand why that is not necessary. Examples spring to mind faster than I can type. |
