Not to much knowledge in this area (this is what someone told me):

Roman Catholisism was establised by the Roman's to allow them to continue their practices as well as worshiping God or something like that. Through time we had the huge Religeous crisis of the Spanish Inquisition, where several corrupt leaders issued death sentences on many people.

(Forgive me & correct me if this is written out of proportion.)

To envoke another thread The RC Church does not allow women to become priests or male priests to marry. Here's the shocker from the early 19/20th Century. To get round the Celabacy law, boys were often allowed to be abused by high ranking priests & they could say nothing about it. Which leads us to the problems of today. (NO flaming please - positive discussion only.)

If the celebacy law was relaxed & Catholic Priests were allowed to marry women (& not just the Church), then I think it would decrease significantly.

I don't know too much about Protestantism, but I think it's to do with the Church of England, who follow a more relaxed way of worship.

Religion is one of the causes of most conflicts in this world, if only everyone who worships the same God agreed to put their differences aside & consentrate on The Lord, instead of their own Religeous agendas, the world maybe a better place to live in.
