As many of you know, I am currently undergoing therapy with a psychologist who is treating my addiction to pornography. Her name is Karen Hart, and she specializes in gay sexuality and reorientation therapy. I have been seeing her regularly, and from the very first meeting I introduced her to CBLF and the boylove community. (Offline, of course, because I cannot go online right now. I have a lot of stuff printed out.) She is completely intrigued by our Forum. She is a Christian and she loves what we are doing. I gave her every copy of Paraklesis that I own (I have almost every issue… ) and she read them in one sitting. At first she was amazed that anything like CBLF exists, but now she is completely enthralled. She loves the idea that we are reaching out to people considered by most to be a community of unreachable sinners. She has made an exciting proposal, something which I believe deserves consideration and is why I am writing to you. Karen belongs to an organization called NARTH (National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality). They publish a magazine called the "Narth Bulletin", and put it out three times a year. She is interested in a possible article about CBLF for the next publication. From what she has told me, it would be an excellent way to introduce a larger group of interested people, both professionals in the psychiatric field, and lay people. She believes that some, perhaps many, would also love what CBLF is doing… especially in the realm of faith and community. Of course she understands that maintaining our anonymity is quite necessary. I told Karen that this sounds promising, but in order to go ahead with anything like this… I cannot even consider it… unless I present it first to any and all interested members of CBLF. Although I would love to write this proposed article, I cannot take on this venture without approval. That, and I must be open to any other preferred possible author of said article, because there can very well be someone else better qualified to do it for a number of reasons. I am going to include with this the address of the publication along with the 'phone number and name of the editor. Please let me know what you think of this proposal and what you decide.
