FOD -
For me, masterbation associated with boys, such as on TV or in magazine ads is the only sexual outlet I have. Contrary to what a therapist once told me, it has not evolved into any greater action. It has kept my sexuality at bay. It has also NOT affected my ability to relate to boys that I fantasize about. Sometimes, it has enhanced my relationships because it has given me an outlet so that when I am with them, I don't have to feel "horny". Masterbation DID affect my social life however, and often took the place of being around people. The church has turned that fact around 180 degrees. I so much enjoy the church and being around others in it, the twins included, that I have somewhere else to go besides my bedroom to feel "fullfilled". God has also helped me to greatly reduce the habit to a couple of times a week, instead of 3 times a day.

This brings me back to b). I cannot write God's rules....if masterbation is wrong then I can't change that. I can only manipulate the interpretation a bit. But if I have a choice between accepting my propensity to sin and committing to God, or turning from God BECAUSE I sin, is the latter the better choice? Or is the hypocracy too overwhelming?

You are not alone.
