"I couldn't help but think of how much more popular Christianity is with families and heterosexual people than with people who are gay or BL."

Is that true? I ask that as a real question, because ever since I came onto the boylove boards, I've been trying to figure out what proportion of boylovers belong to what faiths, and how this corresponds with the general population in English-speaking countries. The only thing I've been able to figure out is that the believers of less popular faiths (which, in English-speaking countries, means non-Christian faiths, including nontheism) are more vocal on the boylove boards about their beliefs than Christian boylovers are, but I suspect that this is true in the general population as well. Certainly, I find over and over that boylovers whom I assumed weren't Christian are in fact Christian.

Similarly, I'd be hesitant to make any assumptions about same-gender-attracted people. For one thing, there is an enormous gay Christian movement. For another thing, same-gender-attracted people who believe that homosexuality is sinful are more likely to keep a low profile in their churches.

"But I am NOT sure that men who are gay are just supposed to either act straight or go to hell."

A third possibility, of course, is remaining celibate. I guess I've never had as much a problem as some other people on these boards of the idea of people being born with desires that won't go away but that they shouldn't act on, because I was born with clinical depression (only in my case it did go away after twenty-five years, much to my surprise). So I spent most of my life struggling to control desires I shouldn't act on (hitting people I was angry with, committing suicide, etc.) but without any strong belief that those desires would go away. For many clinically depressed people, I know, they never do. So the problem of why God would create boylovers with desires they shouldn't act on is just part of the broader problem of why God would create anyone with desires they shouldn't act on. Since we're all born with some desire or another we shouldn't act on, that's a human question.
