Double Standards and the Bible

As I thought today about Jim's extreme emotions about the bible and also dealt today with my own sins I couldn't help but think of how much more popular Christianity is with families and heterosexual people than with people who are gay or BL. As this is the case, then it would appear that the bible is written for (and God is only interested in) straight people, a notion which is completely absurd. Using this logic, we would further conclude that the bible is right for some people and not for others, which ultimately means that the bible is NOT the ultimate standard but is a human invention. I cannot accept this last conclusion. If the bible is the word of God (whether you accept this fully and literally, or you accept it on a more general level), then the bible applies to all people and can bring all people to God. It is frustrating when people do not accept the bible because it does not fit their life, yet you can certainly see why this would be. God presents people who are gay or BL with a huge challenge to overcome, and perhaps a need for even greater faith than the average married couple.

On a side note, I still cannot understand what God had in mind for gay people (or for BLs). I do believe that men should not lie with other men, as is clearly commanded in Leviticus. But I am NOT sure that men who are gay are just supposed to either act straight or go to hell. If this is the case, most will just reject God anyway before they have a chance to realize how blessed their lives can be. As BLs we have a huge responsiblity to walk with God in our lives, to find the purpose for the life that he has given us.

You are not alone.
