An Introduction

Hi, everybody. I'm not sure how much I'll contribute to the board. When a member of my family came out to me as a BL a few years ago, I promised that I would support him in any way that I could. I've met a few of the people who post here since then, and my decision to start lurking is an extension of my promise to include them as well. I've been an Orthodox Christian for the past three years, and was a Mennobapticostalan for six years before that. (And before that, I was a good-natured hedonist, but we don't need to go into that now. [grin]) One of the prayers the Orthodox Church uses regularly during Lent is by St. Ephraim the Syrian. I hope that you will all hold me to it in any posting I may do. O Lord and Master of my life, deliver me from the spirit of indolence, meddling, lust for power, and idle talk. But give rather to thy servant the spirit of chastity, meekness of mind, patience, and love. Yea, O King and God, grant that I may know my own sins and faults, and not judge my brother; for thou art blessed for ever. Amen. Dirk |
