Are you sure?

In reply to methinks I've heard it all before submitted by Rex Infinity on March 07 2000 17:24:19

Have you heard this?

To reason one must define his terms and limit the meaning. For the sake of the argument, let's define sin as breaking one of the 10 Commandments. You know them, but let's review quickly: Thou shalt have no other gods before me or don't get into witchcraft or playing of gods. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images nor bow down unto or serve any. An idol can be a person, place, thing, idea or cause. (I'll speak more on this later.) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. That means cursing or professing to be a Christian (& to me Christian means sinless) & not living it. Tis true, you are taking his name in vain if you're not towing the line or abiding by God's standard, etc. Another way is mocking or speaking disrespectful of God & his attributes, including his Son, the Holy Spirit or Bible or one of His children, etc. We all need to mind our tongue. These 3 commandments or words was on the first table of stone & establishes our relationship with God. The last 7 was written on the second table & establishes our relationship with self & others.

Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. 6 days shalt thou work & do all of your labor therein, but the 7th day thou shalt rest. (Twould be wise for all of us to do just that. If we've labored for 6 full days, then we need a rest to mind, body and spirit. Be kind unto yourself & get your rest.) Jesus said that we have 12 hours in which to work for the night cometh when no man can work. If done after dark, it hast to be the devil's business.

Honour thy father that begat thee & thy mother that bore thee. Honour means to love, obey, respect, esteem, cherish, show deference (in case of disagreement, yield to your parents wishes) & acquiesce (consent without protest). Hudson Taylor said I've yet to see a couple prosper who went against their parents wishes. I can say the same about an individual. Doesn't the Bible say that if you wanna live long on this earth, you haft to obey your parents? How long do we haft to? Until 18? 21? Married? For life? Throughout eternity? As the preacher said, until the law has been rescinded, it's still in effect & David said: Forever, O Lord, thy word or law is established in Heaven & Jesus said, where no theives break through & steal. (This is an aspect of a law & will say more on this later.) I once was young & now I'm old (57) & my parents have now passed; but there is nothing sweeter than knowing that I PLEASED MY PARENTS & to know that I'm still in compliance to their wishes warms my heart. Furthermore to know they wait for me in Heaven makes me wanna leave this ole world, you can be sure.

Thou shalt not kill -- What if you do? God told Noah that at the hand of man will I require the life of man. In other words, if the judge or jury finds you guilty of murder, then the sentence hast to be death. If done due to an accident, you were allowed to go to the City of Refuge & stay there. Thou shalt not kill, even to destroying another's happiness or reputation, etc.

Thou shalt not commit adultery. This is a no-no subject & everybody does his own thing the way he pleases, right? Well, since it is a commandment, do we understand what it covers? Adultery or sex is for adults only & per the Bible you're not an adult until 21. Since there is no such thing as sex amongst teenagers in the animal world, why do humans do it? Also, there's no such thing as a pregnant pullet, pregnant puppy dog, pregnant yearling, so if pregnant, the teenager has been raped for she does not know how to behave in bed for God does not give unto teenagers that information. Adultery is misbehaving sexually or breaking the marriage vows, whether single or married. Another way to explain it is adulter is the crime that covers any and all sexual activity, but whoredom, sodomy, rape -- call it what you will or more bluntly put, use of hard is the deed. Wait! David committed adultery with Bethsheba, but the men of Israel committed whoredom with the Moabite women from Balak's harem. What's the difference? David broke the marriage vows, but behaved himself sexually, but the men of Israel didn't. I'll end with Hebr. 13 which says: Marriage is honourable in all -- Any would be upgraded if he or she married & the bed undefiled -- there's nothing dirty, unclean, harmful or shameful -- But adulterers & whoremongers God will judge. If this be true, is it any wonder the confusion of those who are trying to be "judges" in such matters?

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness. Bear means to cart about false ideas in your head, especially about someone; then how sober & how serious should we be in regards to spiritual matters? How much plainer can it get when Revelation says that all who love a lie or who make a lie or who tell a lie shall go to Hell?

Thou shalt not covet. That means an abnormal or unnatural desire for something, to want things you can't have, that which don't belong to you, that which is not meant for you. Thou shalt not -- PERIOD! One wanted to be Miss America, but was too old & so tried out for Miss USA. In her story, oh, my, the schemes she went through trying to get it & funny part, failed!!!! Wait! Ever hear of: The love of money is the root of all evil? Well, let's say, the "lust" for gain is the root cause for all evil. The love of money, which is coveteousness & coveteousness is idolatry. I say coveteousness is intoxications on such things as alcohol, dope, foul sex, etc. & have become idols or gods unto you.

Now, this is the 10 sins, per se, & the law regarding them. Since the Law is the end of all discussion, simply learn what the law is & abide by it. THE LAW IS THE END OF ALL DISCUSSION. Don't question it, don't discuss it, don't tamper with it. The problem is, Daniel said that in the last days there shall be changing of time & CHANGING OF LAWS. How do you go about it? You first off form a committee and start talking about it, huh? But in order to change a law, you haft to go to the original. Let's make abortion legal. What law are we talking about? Abortion is destruction of the unborn baby & so, we'll haft to re-write: Thou shalt not kill except in cases of abortion & euthiasian. Okay, the original 10 Commandments is in Heaven & so how far will we get?

Let's look at legal vs lawful. John the Bapt. told Herod it wasn't "lawful" (legal, yes, for he had a marriage license); but not lawful to be married to Herodias, his biol. sister, who had married originally their brother, Phillip. We know what happened, but what did John expect Herod to do? Read Acts for a greater expansion of this "legal" versus "lawful" or to which authority we yield unto: God or man? As Peter said, judge ye!

"A Matter of Choice, in the March issue of Essence magazine, ends with: "While I thank God for the right to choose (abortion), I wish to God that I hadn't exercised it." That blows the mind. The words right, law, just, fair, equitable mean the same; so does she think it's legal to do so? Is it? She's a lawyer, but has she not read into the Wade vs Roe case something that's not there? Yes, for it says that the family doctor will make that decision. Did God give her the right to choose or did the Supreme Court knuckle under a woman lawyer, Sarah Weddington, & "changed the law" to suit her? Since she wishes to God she hadn't exercised her right, does this mean a woman is not capable of making that decision? Since it's only one, can it count against women in general? To say this is a can of worms, you're right & I shall end my tirade herewith.

If you're guilty of breaking any of these 10 Commandments, then I am not guilty of misinterpreting the Bible to find fault with you. Now, our different interpretations may be stricter or more lenient etc, but nevertheless all have got the gist of what the law means. To be a law, it hast to be made upfront or before the crime is committed (the Const. forbids any ex-post facto laws & that simply means making a law after the deed is done) & the 10 Commandments were made upfront for David said: Thy Law, O Lord, was established BEFORE the foundation of the world. Thus said, when we came into this world, we knew what the rules were & if we break them, be man enough to own up to them. For one to start juggling the figures in the head, such as pulling the petals off the daisy -- yes, no, maybe so, certainly, etc. -- acting as if the law is an ifish propostion, that's scary.

The law or 10 Commandments is the foundation upon which we build, it is the sidewalk upon which we walk, it is the fencepost along the path beyond which we do not go, it is the ancient landmark that we do not remove! But, if you began to push on the borders, dibble dabble on the fence, etc., you're headed for serious mental problems & big time! I know whereof I speak for you'll get to the point you don't know which end is up! To do so, you're toying with your Conscience, which is your scale of justice, your balance between right & wrong.

Now, to be caught up in your sins means you're intoxicated on the cravings or lust thereof or else, you're hooked on it & can't quit if you had to. This might be greatly simplified & Theo should be allowed to reply first & I realize this AFTER I got to this point in my post. I am at fault for butting in here & I beg your pardon.

Sir, I ask of you: Have you heard this before? Humbly submitted. Have a good day.
