"Soon after I posted the question about the word "lust" I remembered its Catholic equivalent....used just as often and in the same way and based on the same assumption (which I, too reject). The phrase is "impure thoughts."" This would seem to imply that if the impurities were removed, the rest of my "impure thought" would be ok. But if I was lusting in a homosexual way, then by the time the Catholic Church removed all the impurities I'd have no thoughts left. There'd still be sexual desire, of course, an emotion not a thought, but that's not quite the same thing. Are these thoughts truly impure I wonder, or is the word "impure" being used in place of a less polite one? Peace be with you Rex Infinity |
