Coping badly

It's been a rough couple of days: Yesterday the biggest selling national newspaper published the names and photograph of a large number of convicted paedophiles. Last night an innocent man got beaten up as a result. It's an unpleasant reminder of how the rest of the world regards us. Then at work We were told that half of the team, including me, are to be trucked off to work at another building on site. Unfortunately the half that are staying include all the members of the team I enjoy being around the most - most significantly a straight 22 year old (in the process of buying a house with his girl friend) who could pass for 16 and who gives me a real buzz when I get to have anything to do with him. Not that it is a sexual buzz - just a spark of something positive that I don't get off anyone else on a regular basis. So I was really sulking about that - but couldn't begin to explain it to anyone.... Then the conversation turned to the whole topic of paedophiles and their perspective as parents on the matter. They were relatively symapthetic - I was desperately trying to keep a straight face and not say anything suspicious. Hard.... So a rough day - it's on days like this that this board makes a real contribution to my life! |
