There is no cure for AS, so what it boils down to is whether you are able to overcome the limitations that condition forces on you or not. If it is something you have learned to work around, then there is no need to be overly concerned with it. If it is something that is impairing your ability to live a fruitful and fulfilling life, then it is something you need to deal with.

I'm fairly certain I fall somewhere within the abnormal range on the autism scale as well. There was a time when curiosity led me to explore that condition after a friend suggested he was reminded of me when reading about someone with asperger's syndrome. I did a little research and concluded that while there is a good chance I could fall within that diagnosis, it's something I have learned to control and isn't significantly impairing my ability to live a fulfilling life. Thus, after the initial curiosity was satisfied, I just put it aside and went back to life as usual. The danger of embracing such a diagnosis, of using it as an excuse for all of my failings, of using it as an excuse to act in ways I shouldn't be acting, or of letting it become a part of my identity; another label that defines who I am; was simply not worthwhile. I chose to shrug off the question of whether I fit that diagnosis and move on with my life, and I think I made the right decision. In my case, the only drawback that seems to come from this is that people often wind up becoming upset by things I said because I failed to anticipate how the words would make them feel; it's annoying that it occurs so often, but I find it far more useful to learn from each of those mistakes and apologize as they occur than to cop out by blaming a personality trait that some group of doctors decided to give a name and label a disorder.

It's slightly discouraging to hear that you have begun to assimilate that as a part of your identity by moving in to forums where people whose identity is based around that disorder reside. I hope it's just curiosity and you will move beyond that.
