Mary's place in Christianity & more

Submitted by Sheesh! on January 06 2001 10:51:25

Hi,

I was asked by two teenboys (16 & 19), in a discussion about religious differences, why Mary is called the mother of God by Catholics and treated as a mere woman by Protestants.

They also wondered why there are statues in Roman Catholic churches while generraly there are none in Protestant churches. I believe it is because Protestants view the practice as idol worshipping.

Any thoughts on the differences would be appreciated.

Sheesh! who was raised in both faiths but forgot much
