Historical pragmatism determines your theology? The following sounds very similar to the "bad theology" espoused by Martin Luther King, Jr.: "Do not repay anyone evil for evil...If your enemy is hungry, feed him,....Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." --Romans 12:17-21 "Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also....Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,..." --Matthew 5:38-45 etc. Does Jesus' "bad theology" irritate you? Historically, it was pretty bad; it got him killed. And (as noted above) he tells us to live the same way. Mark |
