If you refuse to even try to talk to God, then there is no way you will ever get to know His true nature. But I'm not surprised you don't have the guts. I have always figured you for a coward. As far as explaining some of the horrors that have been reported in the Bible, all I can offer is this. If there is an eternity, as I believe there is, what happens in a single lifetime, or even several lifetimes, has less consequence than a sliver in one's finger. Here on Earth, we are all very concerned with death and suffering because all we can see is our existence here. But an omnicient God sees the big picture. To allow some suffering here on Earth so we can have an eternity of fellowship with an all loving God seems like a pretty darn good deal to me. To stomp ones feet and cry out against things we cannot possibly fully understand is like the child who throws a temper tantrum when his parents make him get a vaccination shot. The child doesn't understand that the shot is so he won't get sick. He is just concerned with the temporary pain. You may not like the rules God has set up. But He made us and has every right to do anything he wants with us. I very much doubt the rules and the horrors you speak of are in any way arbitrary. I am confident they were and are neccesary in order for an ultimately holy God to have fellowship with a very unholy people. The fact that He goes to all that trouble is proof of his love. He could just wipe the slate clean and start over with a new people. Remember, we were given a perfect world, but we screwed it up. He gave us the freedom of choice so we would not be mindless drones, but love him freely. We repaid that gift of freedom with disobediance. And He has been working on bringing He and us back into fellowship ever since. Run from Him if you want. Go ahead and deny his existence without actually trying to seek Him out. That is your right that HE has given you. But your non-belief, or refusal of belief, doesn't change what is true. And ultimately, you are only hurting yourself. I hope you enjoy your life of hate, because that is all you have. Dakota |
