I was reading the Christian Consultation Statement for 2000, and 2001, and I must say that their statements are somewhat upsetting. Who are these people that attended the consultation and painted a picture of boylovers as sad people in desparate need of support circles, accountability circles, careful pastoral attention, etc? Was there not one non-dysfunctional BL in that group? Somehow, these statements are supposed to help build bridges? all theyve done is painted us as pathetic creatures in need of constant observation and specially dedicated support groups. In the statement for 2001, it is even recommended a pastor create a support group for himself just to deal with boylovers. Maybe it didnt occur to those attending the group that there are many of us who dont want support groups, accountability circles, etc. and who feel that creating such groups for the benefit of one person is a waste of the Church's resources. I dont know much about the consultation or when it will take place this year, I know I cant afford it, but will someone who isnt dysfunctional and has no need for all these support structures please go and stand up for what BL is really about? |
