Why so much emphasis on being ready if we cannot lose our salvation?

Because we must be diligent in saving others. i.e. Don't wait till next week to talk to your friend about salvation, Jesus may come tomorrow........

Let's put some logical conclusions to your stance.

If I can fall away, what is the exact point that that happens? If I were to get drunk tonight, have I fallen away? If I were to die while being drunk tonight, would I go to hell? What about if I told a small while lie and died before asking forgiveness? Am I a lost soul? How far must I go in sin, till I am no longer saved?

Do you really think God wants us to live a Godly life just because we don't want to be caught at the wrong time and go to Hell on a technicality? My God is much bigger than that. Don't limit God. When I live as I should, I do it because I love God and it is the life that makes my spirit happy, it would cheapen it if I lived a good life because I was afraid I might be caught off guard and go to hell.

Fear of God is our first notion. That is what drives us to be saved. Once saved, a whole new relationship takes form. God is a companion. He is our comforter that never leaves our side. He does this through the Holy Spirit that lives in us.

Do you think that the next time I sin, the Holy Spirit will flee from me and I must ask Jesus to come back into my heart?

I just can't equate my relationship with my God to that of when my mom would let me stay at the house on my own and would warn me that she could be back at any time, so I better not get into trouble.
