The reason many Christians divorce

In my opinion, the reason so many Christians divorce is because there are way too many Christians these days that are willing to make compromises in their Christianity. Whenever something is too hard or too inconvenient, the average Christian will set aside what Christianity says and do the easy or convenient thing. He/she figures "why not? This will make life easier for me, and after all, God will forgive me." So why return the wallet with money in it I found? I really need the money and God will forgive me. Why leave my name and number on the parked car I just hit? My insurance would go up and God will forgive me. Why try to work out my marriage? It's so easy to get divorced, and God will forgive me. After all, wouldn't God want me to be happy? You can see the same attitude on this board. I think the prevailing Christian mantra these days is "God wants me to be happy." God wants me to be happy, so He must not have meant that passage in the Bible for me. God wants me to be happy, so the Bible surely doesn't mean what most people think it means. God wants me to be happy, so I'm sure He won't be too upset if I commit this little sin and ask his forgiveness later. To be quite frank, seeing Christians do that makes me sick. And what makes me even more sick is knowing that I do it myself. Dakota |
