What I've Decided

Hello everyone! I just wanted to thank you for each and every response that I got from this board (even you, Drifter ;). Your opinions and attitudes taught me alot and have changed my way of thinking. I really can't make any drastic changes to my script. The fact is is that there are people like my main character in the world, and I wish to tell people that THOSE people aren't monsters, but rather those in need of help. But here is what you've helped me to decide. I've decided that my main character isn't a pedophile at all. He is heterosexual, and does what he does out of selfishness, stress, and pain. So, at the end of my project I will either have monologue by someone, or simple title screen saying roughly the following: "A Pedophile is someone that is sexually attracted to children. The main character in this story is not a pedophile. Rather, he is a completely hetereosexual man. In fact, most children in incest cases like the one shown in this film are committed by hetereosexuals (insert statistics here). On a seperate note, many calling themselves 'pedophiles' were consulted for this project. I was surprised to find that many believed pedophilia to be a sexual orientation. I thought that odd, until i remembered that back in the 80's, psychology and psychiatry considered homosexuality a mental disorder." The second paragraph is going to be tough to put in. But the plan is to put it in at this point. Is there anything you would add, knowing the audience i am showing this too? |
