Why shouldn't I take jabs when the thing I'm ridiculing is nothing more than a comedic bastardization of something that shouldn't be perverted?

Well...the answer to that is simple...its because lots of people, people that read your posts Im sure, get lots of value out of the "perversion". You must realize that the world has changed along with the people in it. So too have our religions. They have to in order to have anything to offer to anyone. Or we may as well all be sun-worshippers again, right? You think thats a perversion? How about Americanized Buddhism? And Heaven help the Celtic Deities of old! Whats worse? Nickelodian cancled Pete and Pete! AGRH! Now THAT really pisses me! I loved that show!! If you truly value what you feel important then you should understand the value some place on todays Christianity. It should make you feel pretty irresponsible to risk taking away their security. Or even just the veil of security they feel. Because not everyone shares the same mind. What I mean is that you are special in that you can sift through the mess to find what you feel important. But even then, its still only what YOU "feel" is important. I was thinking about it last night. I was at work and talking to some other guy. We talk about science, mostly just theorize, really just small talk, anyway a friend of mine asked where God fit in to this Big Crunch theory (pun) and Rick just smiled and said "Well, God doesnt exist". Allen just walked away and Rick just turned to me...chuckling. But it wasnt funny. (and believe me, I let him know it!) Now for me to ridicule Rick about being athiest would be a contridiction to what Im telling you, which is...allow others to believe what they want. Dont risk making them lose faith, they may not have the right mindset to stand alone against the fact that they are going to die someday. If you feel that somebody shouldnt make you try to believe what you dont want to then why do it to them? You see I believe there is a level above where you are in your beliefs now. One where you could realize that while alive we will never know what lies ahead. (You and me, if someone wants to believe they know thats fine) Its a place where you dont have to tell anyone about the holes in their system because you can see the bigger picture. A picture that includes all types of people and religons to suit them. Most times when you point out the flaws youre just met with opposition, sometimes someone will patch up the hole with something else, sometimes someone may even listen to you and then start to draw their own conclusions based on the facts the teachings and what they feel in their heart, but sometimes, and this is what worries me, someone will listen to you and grasp what you say but not have what it takes to further it and feel comfortable drifting about in no mans land. Thats a scary place to be. Especially with a Christian upbringing. A hopeless place to be unless you are truly at ease with the answer "I dont know". Anyway, I hope Ive made some sense to you. Im not saying you caused anyone pain, but why even risk it? In the end, the only two questions that matter are...were you happy and did you make others happy?
