Should I worry about this?

Submitted by BLues. on December 13 1999 at 03:44:36

Hey guys. Hope all is well over here. I posted this on BC but didn't get nearly as much feedback as I had wanted. So, in an effort to exhaust this topic I wanted to repost it here and try to pick everyone's brain for some thoughts on it. BTW, can someone tell me if the topic of abortion is somehow taboo on these message boards? Seems everyone avoids it. Anyway, here it is. Share with me your spin on this worrysome albiet for now hypothetical....

Change is inevitable for most things. The first time a curse word was spoken in a movie was that famous line from Gone With The Wind. Today we're long past that. Ditto for the cleavage.

Nat King Cole reigns as the first black man ever to eat in a restaurant with whites. This is hear-say so don't quote me. I think he was a singer or something too. :o)

My birth year saw the invention of e-mail and home video games. Which have of course come a long, long way! That year was special for another reason too...can you guess? :o)

The first computer built by a human belonged to somebody in Asia about 5000 years ago. Unless you count Stonehenge...or don't believe Stonehenge was built by humans. . . (me the latter)

So change is a great thing. Constantly pushing us further. Providing us with ever increasing comfort and freedom of expression. Wonderful! In fact there is only one thing that I can think of, one right we should have, one freedom that should be that isn't moving forward. Instead it is moving in reverse. Backwards. Something that I'm not allowed to express or explore. Something that forward evolution should be affecting as it is the most important of all freedoms. It is, of course, LOVE.

What is being done about this? If anything at all is; is it being thought out carefully. Are the moves strategic or is ANY (seemingly) forward step not questioned? This is so important. Our whole existance is hanging in the balance.

I have thought about something alot over the past year or two...

Genetic Engineering. So many possibilities exist there. It may be the most exciting field to be in right now. But, because of this and something else I am getting increasingly frightened. There are scientists hard at work, even as I type this, trying their best to identify, to single out which genes cause what. Brown hair, green eyes, obesity, height, certain prones AND certain tastes. Wonderful we think? I believe my boylove to be biological. I was born with this blessing. So, if they identify a seperate gene among boylovers (and homosexuals) it has to be good because then we can say..."But I was born this way" right? But...abortion is legal. Do you see my point? !! ?

My point is this. Although I wish otherwise abortion will most likely never be illegal again. And, they will eventually identify all of the genes that cause every human quality or quirk imaginable. Our DNA strand is present in the womb. See my point yet? If a parent can go to a doctor and the doctor can identify a gene that is displeasing to the parents dreams of having the perfect boychild then all they will do, as cruel as it sounds I believe it to be true that even the most loving and accepting parents, when faced with the decision to have the boylover baby or abort the boylover baby, I think they will abort.

When this *advancment* in modern medicine runs it's full course, if boylovers are not, and boyloving is not accepted than all it will take is one generation to wipe us off the planet. Forever.

I hope someone out there can see where I'm going with this. Time is short for us. These advancments are the exact opposite of a blessing in disguise! What is the old cliche? ...they are a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Give me your views on this. Wisdom runs thick here so if I am missing something please point it out. If you agree...point it out! We need to talk this out. It is so important.

What are we fighting for anyway if this is going to come along and blindside us!!

Please give me your feedback.

Very worried,
BLues.
