dEar dUnston, I followed this thread over at bC and decided that my "questioning without attacking" mode might have been the right move. i see from this board that you are... * new to the FPC sites * have a penchant for religious metaphor * appear to be sincere in your humane approach to children and family life I apologize if my "taking you to task" on bC seemd harsh but the tired old gambit of "quoting scripture", telling "parables", and "interpreting god's wishes for us" have been so thoroughly inflicted upon us over at bC that your post, a fine post in many ways, just riles my bones. religion wielded like a fire-brand in the face of a charging lion has never been, to me anyway, much more than fiercely held personal opinions lifted to the realm of dogma, propped up there in perpetuity by human hands! and that is wrong. I hope you can come over to bC on occasion to read, post, or merely see what there is to see. And I hope you can see that any stories you tell threr that have "morals" at the end are going to be ripe for mis-interpretation. funny, how so many institutions can claim every day to be founded on love but prove every day that they are actually founded on "fear", "ignorance", and "intolerance" masquerading as "faith"... ah, no wonder there are so many religions, so many sects, so many sub-sects, so many "radical religious fringes" out there. the word of the "lord" turns out to be the word of "some guy" or "some guys", often laced with so many a relevant lessons that the "agenda laden ones" begin to blend right on in, compeltely unnoticed by most! i hope that the message of "god's love for us all" can find its way into your vocie the next time such a parable seems "relevant" to the blS over at bC! lvoe, tj |
